BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)
On the Scale plan, you can connect your own AI provider API key. When configured, your AI messages become unlimited at no additional cost from Keep'em.
How It Works
Instead of paying Keep'em for AI messages, you pay your AI provider directly. Keep'em provides the full RAG engine, position-aware chat, and user interface. You control your AI provider relationship and costs.
AI provider pricing is based on tokens (roughly, the length of the input and output text), which typically works out to a few cents per message. For high-volume users, this is significantly more cost-effective than per-message pricing.
Setup
- Go to Settings → AI in your project dashboard
- Enter your API key (OpenAI or Anthropic)
- Select your preferred model
- Save
All AI messages from that point forward use your key. The switch is immediate — no downtime, no migration.
Why BYOK
BYOK makes sense when AI message costs would otherwise be a significant portion of your bill. If you're running high-traffic events with engaged viewers who ask lots of questions, connecting your own key gives you unlimited messages at wholesale rates.
It also gives you control over model selection. You can use the latest models as they become available without waiting for Keep'em to update.
