AI Messages
An AI Message is a single complete answer generated by your event's AI assistant. Keep'em counts messages, not tokens or processing time, making it easy to understand your usage.
What Counts as a Message
When a viewer asks a question and the AI generates a response — that's one message. It doesn't matter how long the response is or how many document chunks were searched.
What doesn't count: Suggested questions displayed in the interface don't count until a viewer actually asks one. Pre-generated content is free — only actual AI responses are metered.
Plan Allocations
| Plan | AI Messages | Approximate Viewers Supported |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | 100 | ~25 at 4 messages each |
| Starter | 200 | ~50 at 4 messages each |
| Growth | 1,500 | ~1,000 at 1.5 messages each |
| Scale | Unlimited (BYOK) | No limits with your own key |
Estimating Usage
Message consumption depends on your content and audience. Straightforward onboarding videos average 0.5–1 messages per viewer. Complex technical demos might see 2–3 messages per viewer. Educational content with lots of potential questions could be higher.
BYOK for Unlimited Messages
On the Scale plan, connecting your own API key makes AI messages unlimited. You pay your AI provider directly at wholesale rates (typically a few cents per message) instead of paying Keep'em per message.
See BYOK for setup instructions.
When You Run Out
If you exhaust your AI message allocation, the AI chat is paused for new messages. Your videos continue playing — viewers can still watch, use chapters, and see existing chat history. Only new AI responses are affected.
Overages can be enabled to keep AI chat running beyond your allocation. See Overages.
